World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Accidents Victims, November 19, 2023: Road Traffic Justice

  • Date & Time:
    • November 8, 2023

On November 19, 2023, the Tempulli in cooperation with the Kosovo Motorization Association (AMRKS) as a member of the European Federation of Road Traffic Victims (FEVR) and the Institute for Road Safety and Transport Research, will mark the World Day of Remembrance of Accident Victims in Road Traffic, an important event that aims to sensitize the public about the challenges and problems related to road traffic.

The main theme of #WDoR2023 is “Justice,” and this year it focuses on the need to improve fairness in the road traffic system. The events and activities organized for this event are part of a joint effort to remember the victims of road accidents and to promote concrete actions to prevent deaths and injuries on the road.

On this occasion, a voluntary blood donation will be organized for all accident victims and a lecture with students regarding the importance of traffic safety, measures to prevent accidents and the steps to follow to seek justice.

The main goals of #WDoR2023 are:

1. Remembrance of Victims: The World Day of Remembrance aims to remember and honor all road traffic victims, including those killed or injured in road accidents. This is a way to emphasize the extent of the serious impact of road accidents on people’s lives and their families.

2. Emergency Services Support: For those involved in road accidents, emergency services are lifesavers. On this day, an important part of the focus is to commemorate and appreciate the work of health care and rescuers in times of danger.

3. Improving Laws and Justice: One of the main goals is to draw attention to legal measures related to causes and culpability in road accidents. Justice must be pursued and enforced seriously to ensure that those who cause accidents are punished appropriately and that victims receive justice.

4. Victim Support: This day is also dedicated to improving support for road traffic victims and their families. They need emotional, legal, and practical support to cope with the consequences of road accidents.

5. Accident Prevention: Activities are also focused on promoting concrete measures to prevent road traffic accidents. This includes educating the public about road safety and the importance of obeying traffic rules.

This event is a continuation of the initiative started by the European Federation of Road Traffic Victims (FEVR) in 1995 and supported by the United Nations Organization through Resolution 60/5 of the UN General Assembly on October 26, 2005. This organization has a significant impact on public awareness of road traffic challenges and deepens the commitment to improve road safety and justice for road traffic victims and their families
